Angry Calendar 1984
The Angry Calendar was my first art photography project. It was inspired by my work as a performer with David Hughes (then Daffydd Hughes) at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff 1979. All the photography took place at Moonshine Community Arts Workshop in Harlesden, where I had previously worked. The models were mostly friends or acquaintances, and I made them work hard, so many thanks to them. These images formed the basis of my first portfolio and helped me get work at the New Musical Express. They were exhibited at Portfolio Gallery in Portobello Road London.
The photographs were taken on a Yashica FX-D SLR Camera on Ilford 35mm XP1 film. The solarised images used interleaved film processed in the darkroom.
